Is it silly that I’m about to do a post on fashion? Oh well. I think I’m doing it so I can find all the lovely hats I’ve been locating in one place.
Google “travel hat” and you will find something like this:
Maybe I could have pulled this off on our family cruise in 2000, but I’m not going for it now.
This summer I am traveling quite a bit. Israel, Budapest, England, France…the rest TBD (IRELAND, PLEASE). I normally would forego the inconvenience of finding a hat I can pack in my luggage, but I need a hat for my month long stay in Israel (and our potential wwoffing experience in France). I’m a fair skinned gal, and while I appreciate the extra freckles that make their yearly appearance from the months of June-September, I want to keep sun exposure to a minimum. The area I’ll be staying requires women to dress nicely yet conservatively in 90 degree weather, so I’m going to be recycling a few plain, lightweight clothing pieces during my time there. With that said, I want a hat to add a little character to my limited wardrobe AND keep me shaded from the sun.
My search for a travel friendly hat began, and I’ve since discovered a few options. Whether or not you’re traveling this summer, have a glance at the cute caps I’ve found and consider adding a hat to your wardrobe to keep you COOL (no pun intended).
airflow fold up outback hat from free people ($48)
fold up hat from minnetonka ($48)
banded straw floppy hat from urban outfitters ($34)
dorfman pacific all-season crushable hat from rei ($44)
After I save up some money, I think I’m going to go for Free People’s gem of a hat.
